For the last few days I have been able to wear normal underwear with a continence pad instead of disposable underwear. I am able to make it through the night. I’m not yet confident enough to go without a pad during the day. But I am able to stay dry after a shower and don’tContinue reading “Improved Continence”

First Quarterly Surgeon Visit
As I wrote in a prior post, my PSA numbers are good. Yesterday, I had my first of four quarterly visits with my Urologist (surgeon). He said that my PSA is basically undetectable, which is good. This leaves three more PSA blood tests between now and September. If the numbers stay undetectable or very low,Continue reading “First Quarterly Surgeon Visit”
Return to Regular Underwear?
The last week or so I have stayed mostly dry during the day. Only bending over, lifting something, or laughing has led to anything escaping my control. So today, I decided to try regular briefs with a pad. It’s a four day weekend for me, due to the Thanksgiving holiday in the U.S. So I’mContinue reading “Return to Regular Underwear?”
Encouraging Numbers
I just had my PSA test Friday morning. I got an email that the test results were ready, so I signed in to look. I am very encouraged that the PSA is less than .01 ng/mL. This means that is has dropped to near zero! This should be great news. I won’t talk to myContinue reading “Encouraging Numbers”
First Quarterly Blood Draw
I had my first blood draw for the four quarterly PSA tests I’ll need for the year following surgery. I have an appointment on Wednesday, December 2nd to discuss the results with my urologist. I haven’t thought too much about it, other than to ensure I didn’t forget to do it a few days beforeContinue reading “First Quarterly Blood Draw”
Two Months/Ten Weeks Post Op
October 21 marked two months since surgery. today, October 30 marks ten weeks since surgery. I am feeling well and basically back to “normal.” However, bladder control is my biggest struggle. It seems to have plateaued and I don’t feel confident in switching to regular underwear. The biggest issue sleeping at night, as I haveContinue reading “Two Months/Ten Weeks Post Op”
Catheter Removal
LAst week I shared a video about my post op doctor visit and the pathology results. After talking with the doctor, a nurse removed my catheter. I recorded the audio of that experience. It was not painful, but wow did it feel weird. You can check out that via YouTube:
Final Hospital Bill
I got an email that I had the final hospital bill, so the insurance and hospital finally got on the same page. Instead of over $56,000, insurance covered just over $55,000, so my share is $998.62. I quickly paid that from my HSA (Health Savings Account) so I don’t have to worry about it. ThisContinue reading “Final Hospital Bill”
Questions For My Doctor & Pathology Results
I posted a video to YouTube of the visit with my urologist ten days after surgery. I asked several questions, then we went over the pathology report. The nurse then came in and removed the catheter, but I will discuss that in next week’s video. I wrote about this in a prior blog post. YouContinue reading “Questions For My Doctor & Pathology Results”
One Month After Surgery/28 Days Home
Monday, September 21, 2020 – POSTED: Wednesday, September 23, 2020 One month after surgery! I’m doing well, sleeping fairly well at night, and only getting up once in the night, to go to the bathroom. I’m able to do a bit more every day and my incisions heal a bit more, and there’s a bitContinue reading “One Month After Surgery/28 Days Home”
