Final Hospital Bill

I got an email that I had the final hospital bill, so the insurance and hospital finally got on the same page. Instead of over $56,000, insurance covered just over $55,000, so my share is $998.62. I quickly paid that from my HSA (Health Savings Account) so I don’t have to worry about it.

This is a big relief to finally have behind me. Now I can focus on projects around the house.

Bladder Control?

My bladder control is getting better. I’m using fewer pairs of disposable underwear each day. I do my Kegels as I remember, and have worked up to the duration and number of repetitions. It seems like any day I should have relatively normal bladder control.

Laughing, sneezing, coughing, blowing my nose, and bending over all still cause leakage. I need to learn to concentrate on holding it for those times, but over 50 years of not having to do that is hard to unlearn.

I feel confident that other than occasional issues, I should have bladder control in a few more weeks.

Incisions

My incisions are healing nicely. there is one that the scab fell off so I wore a butterfly bandage for about a week. I changed it every couple of days. It still has a scab, the other incisions are finally healed over. Still that red, fresh wound look.

I can sleep on either side and have woken up sleeping on my stomach a few times. I still get twinges of discomfort occasionally. Sometimes stretching feels uncomfortable in my abdomen.

Overall, I feel good and am doing well. I still use suspenders and undo the button on my jeans when sitting as it can still dig into my abdomen a bit more than is comfortable.

Outlook

I’m in a good frame of mind. I’m not worried about my first blood test at the end of November. That may change as the time gets closer.

I try to focus on personal projects with my hobbies and projects around the house. As usual, things turned chilly before I was ready, so a few outdoor things aren’t done that I still want done before winter.

I’m making plans for 2021, and looking forward to brighter days ahead.
