I was up a couple times in the night. I slept hard. I didn’t get to bed until 1:00 am and got up about 9:00 am. I went to the local place to get breakfast.
When I got home, I recorded and posted the video about my treatment decision that I intended to do last night.
Insurance Finally Answers
I had an email that I had a new EOB (Explanation Of Benefits) from my insurance company. I checked and they finally answered what they are doing. Of the approximately $35,000 in outstanding claims, most of it was covered by the “Member Discounted Rate”. This means “In-Network” as I understand it. The only thing that was not completely covered is the Operating Room Service, and I only owe $998.62. This plus the $833.63 for the surgeon and anesthetist means that the total cost to me is: $1,832.25 out of a total of $63,962.03. Add in $2,457.87 for first visit with urologist and biopsy, for a total cost of $66,419.90. That includes everything except my follow up PSA test in early 2020. That’s almost as much as I owe on the house.
The great news is that I have enough in my HSA (Health Savings Account) to cover this and will have about $1,000.00 left over. The great thing about an HSA is that it is not spend it or lose it, so I have enough to pay for new glasses when I have my eye exam next month.
My stress took a nosedive over that. Now all I have to do is wait and see if my homeowner’s insurance agrees that I have hail damage, so I don’t have to take out a loan for a new roof.
Mowing
I’m going to try out mowing the lawn. It hasn’t been mowed since I mowed it a couple days before surgery. It is going to take at least 2 passes. Hopefully, I can do this without pain or causing myself a problem. I’m going to take it slow and do small sections. If the first section goes well. I will rest a bit, then do another. My hope is that it doesn’t take all day to mow, but we’ll see how well it goes and how I feel.
The last thing I want to do is injure myself.
Afterwards
I mowed the lawn without issue. My back is a bit sore, and I had occasional “tweaks” of my abdomen, but it was more a pulling sensation than pain. With the frost last night, and another projected for tonight, hopefully the grass slows its growth and there are not many mowings left this season.
