I didn’t have any issues getting to sleep last night. I had two periods of sleep about three hours each. After getting up to pee after the second three hours, I couldn’t get back to sleep.
This is frustrating. It means I can get a head start on today’s blog post and some other things, but I’ll be running out of steam sometime today.
I haven’t found the sweet spot for getting the right amount of sleep and not waking up too early.
Passing Gas
I started passing a lot of gas last night, and have continued to do so each time I woke up to go to the bathroom. My abdomen feels much looser! It is a big relief. This might make it more comfortable to wear my jeans. I’m definitely more comfortable generally.
My incisions have been itchy. They are less tender all the time. With less tenderness means I can do the clockwise massage of my abdomen to promote bowel movement a bit more aggressively. Not as aggressively as I could do before surgery, but a bit more pressure and deeper.
Bruises and Incisions
The bruise on my left arm is really breaking up and fading. It might be almost gone in a couple more days. Bruising on my lower right abdomen is also fading fast.
Some incisions have already lost scabs, for others, the scabs are drying up quickly and will probably fall off before next weekend.
Walking and Exercise
With weight limitations, my exercise must be limited to walking. I will work to keep getting in two or more miles a day. Walking will help strengthen both the core and pelvic floor, plus promote normal bowel movements.
YouTube Channel
I started a YouTube Channel for this blog.
I just posted the introductory video to my YouTube Channel.
I’d appreciate any subs so I can get a named link to match my channel name.
Thanks!
Nap Time
I woke up and couldn’t get back to sleep this morning, so I got up about 5:00 AM. About 4:00 AM I ran out of steam and couldn’t keep my eyes open, so I took a nap for about an hour. That took the edge off my tiredness, but I still feel like I need more. However, I’m staying awake so I can sleep tonight.
Finding The Right Balance
Trying to find the right balance of both quality and quantity of sleep, and increasing the time between trips to the bathroom is why one day I’m exhausted and the next I have plenty of energy. I just keep doing my pelvic floor exercises, drinking plenty of water, trying to eat a healthy diet, and get enough activity.
Hemorrhoid Issues
My hemorrhoids are the worst they’ve been in a decade, if not longer. I had finally mastered how to keep them under control, along with keeping regular bowel movements. But general anesthesia is no joke. If I ever have to have another surgery with general anesthesia, I want to know how to avoid all these frustrations.
I think I finally have things working more or less “normally,” so I should start to see improvement in the state of my hemorrhoids and bowel movements. I wish it was happening quicker.
Last Day Off Work
Tomorrow, Labor Day, is my last day scheduled to be off work. I just took two weeks of vacation, since our company doesn’t let you carry over days. This allowed me to receive full salary and not have to jump through all the hoops to get short term disability. It also allowed me to retain my seniority.
I don’t really want to go back to work, but I think I am capable. I spoke to my boss yesterday and he said if it’s too much for me, just stop for the day. I do have a couple vacation days and a couple personal days left, if I need them.
I also have a long weekend for my birthday at the end of the month. I should be off the twenty pound weight restriction, and hopefully have my energy back and have better bladder control.
I would really like more time off work. I’ve gotten so many personal things knocked off my list, I just want to keep doing that.
Bedtime
I think I’ll be in bed between 10:00 and 10:30 tonight. I hope that I can sleep longer between trips to the bathroom so I am more rested tomorrow. I also hope I can easily fall asleep tomorrow night so I’m fresh and somewhat energetic for a chaotic first day back at work.
