Finally! I managed to get back asleep each time I had to get up and didn’t get up til 7:30. I still feel tired, but I feel a lot better!
I did 4 laps around the block, & got in 2.8 miles yesterday. I’m doing errands after breakfast and will get a couple new tires, get groceries, wash my truck, and vacuum it out a bit. If I have the oomph after all that, I’m going for a drive. Two weeks of weight restrictions left.
Errands
I’m waiting for new tires on my truck. First time using a public restroom since surgery. Narrowly avoided getting urine everywhere. Since the stream starts before I can aim, I’ve been sitting to pee. Went 2-1/2 hours since my shower, so getting more endurance.
I then got the other things on my list and groceries, and took my truck to the automatic car wash and they have free vacuums, so I got all the dirt, dust, sand, and other detritus out of the front seat since the back seat is full of my son’s stuff.
Running Out of Steam
I was feeling pretty tired by the time I got home, but I got my stuff in and put away, thanks to my granddaughter wanting to help me.
I went to the local sub shop and getting some food did re-charge me a bit, but I still feel like I need a nap.
Second Wind
I didn’t lay down for a nap, because I got a second wind. I did some prep work for tomorrows D&D game. I watched a few YouTube videos and in the evening I watched the last half of the first season of Cobra Kai on Netflix.
Laughing Didn’t Hurt
I have a big, deep belly laugh. I can be heard in a crowd. I was talking with a friend and I had a big laugh and it was the first time my abdomen didn’t hurt from laughing.
My various incisions are still tender, but the one on the lower right is still the most tender. The bruising is fading, and the incision is weeping less and less, so I hope to do away with a bandage in a day or two.
Standing Up
I gave it a try and stood up to pee and I was able to control the start of the stream long enough to aim. I’m slowly getting better at control. I’m lasting longer between trips to the bathroom. While improvement isn’t as fast as I’d like, I’m still doing pelvic floor exercises.
Less Bloating
My abdomen doesn’t feel as tight as it has the last few days. I’m still wearing the loosest clothes I have. I’m hoping the tenderness fades enough I can wear jeans again. My jeans aren’t too tight, my abdomen is just too tender. Even the loosest jeans I have which fall down without a belt felt too tight.
Part of my bloating is residual air from when it was inflated for the laparoscopy. The rest of it is my bowels are still not totally back to normal. My IBS and hemorrhoids don’t help things. I’m drinking lots of waters eating a lot of fiber, and walking. All of that is slowly helping.
I wasn’t having any issues before general anesthesia. But since it knocks out the entire body, it really does a number on people with issues having bowel movements. I didn’t think it would take this long to get back on track.
Once I can get regular again, that should overcome the last of the bloating. Technically, I had what is called ileus, which means my bowels weren’t doing their job dues to the general anesthesia.
Bedtime
I’m not feeling tired and ready for bed like I did last night. Having enough more sleep than prior nights made a huge difference. I’ll get off the computer and get ready for bed anyway as I want to develop a new habit of getting to sleep at a regular time, getting enough sleep, and getting up early enough to get some things done before work.
New Routine
I really want to get up and do walking in the morning. It is already cooling off a lot here in Michigan. I want to do what I can to get a jump start on building up my strength and stamina so I can hopefully get to riding my bike. I think it will be more than two more weeks before I start riding my bike. I really don’t need to aggravate the area of bladder reconstruction.
